Major Highways

Major highways and routes in general reflect the infrastructure of the former Czechoslovakia, and hence the most developed road is from Bratislava to Brno (Czech Republic) and Prague (Czech Republic). Trade routes with the former Hungarian part ofAustria-Hungary are less pronounced while new ties with Austria are being developed as is reflected in new transportation links between the two states. Further, the Tatra mountains provide a challenge for highway construction and routes between major cities are in many cases indirect.
